Someone tried to scam me yesterday. I am not going to post a name and I don't have a screenshot, but I will post the basic, simple principle...

The scammer announced that he wanted to buy "2 bottles of silver dye for 1,5P". I agreed to sell and in the trade window, he offered 1P 5G. I told him that he had made a mistake and he answered that he thought "1,5P" meant 1P, 5G and that it's basically the same. Using my 1337 mathematics skill, I convinced him that 1500 > 1005. His excuse was "A friend gave it to me and told me to sell it for 1,5P". Yes. Whatever. I have no idea what you are talking about. He then informed me that he did not have enough money to pay 1500 gold (which I don't believe, based on his level...).
Of course the trade did not happen, but after some minutes then very same person once again announced that he would buy "2 bottles of silver dye for 1,5P".... I intervened and corrected him publicly, making him leave the district.

Why can you not take any of the blame in this? Do you just not understand my point or is it impossible that anything could be your fault? I do alot of trades for many types of things and have people try these and many other lame scams all the time just like the example that Mosch just posted. They always say it was an honest mistake and I always refuse to sell to them after that but if I EVER excepted a trade for less money then what I wanted it would be just as much my fault as anything for not paying attention! So you're solution now is to go and act like the people that you are here bitching about? That really makes sense

Scammers can be stopped if you simply pay attention, and if the trader starts arguing about, for example, the lack of his mathematical skills (e.g 1.5k = 1500) then cancel the trade and leave him be. The only way I can see that people can scam is by changing the trade window and hitting accept before you notice, in which case its as much your fault for not paying attention as it is his for being an out right ass. If theres another way to scam other than changing whats in the trade window, I'd like to know so I know what to avoid.
Thanks

Not paying attention was my downfall aswell. I lost 50K......... i wanted to buy an axe so i went to storage to see some one and got shown a couple. I said i wanted one of them he canceled. then opend a new window looked the same gold axe. But it wasnt and it wasnt worth 50k. I said to him you have give me the worng one.He said sorry to late it is sold. he doest respond to me anymore.

Where the hell did I ever say this was fine? Please show me because I sure don't remember ever saying that. If this is how you do everything by just making stuff up then I think we can all understand how credible your claims of being scammed are as well... and before you post anything else here either show where I said it was fine for someone to do this or apologize to me for making shit up...

I'm not sure where this thread is going. But this is not a issue of scamming. Just simply a way that more experienced players take advantage of the lesser ones.

Take your time, look at the transaction, make sure you know that 1p = 1,000g.

And if your not sure the value of something go to the traders and find out first.
